Man ‘hangs’ self

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Because his girlfriend did not return his calls, a 22-year-old man reportedly hanged himself in apparent suicide in Sitio Tabok-Sapa, Barangay Jaclupan, Talisay City on Tuesday afternoon.

Mark Cabuenas Delvo, resident of said place, was rushed to Talisay City District Hospital but the attending physician declared him dead on arrival.

Senior Police Officer 1 Mikie Espina of Talisay City Police Station said Delvo tried to call his girlfriend, a student at a city college, many times before the alleged suicide took place. However, he got no answers from the latter.

Espina said Delvo supposedly took a blanket and tied it on his neck with the other end bound on the ceiling of their house.

A cousin, Jasen Cabuenas, discovered the victim’s body and called for assistance.

Delvo’s relatives told the police that he would easily get offended whenever he was ignored by his girlfriend.

He was also described as very wary with what his girlfriend does or where she goes that he would text or call her often.

Relatives further shared that Delvo had attempted to end his life once for the same reason but he was prevented.

He was in a relationship with his girlfriend for five months. The girl went to the hospital and only managed to shed tears upon the sight of her dead boyfriend. She told investigators she was busy with schoolwork when Delvo phoned her up.

"Seloso gyud daw ni si Delvo, mura ba'g nabag-uhan sa iyang uyab. Dili gyud maayo nga pasubra-an atong gugma kay tinuod gyud ning kanta nga ‘Too Much Love Will Kill You,’" Espina said.  (FREEMAN)
