Police to inspect lot for SRP outpost

CEBU, Philippines – The Cebu Police Provincial Office and the Cebu City Police Office are set to conduct a joint survey at the South Road Properties near Sitio Salvador, Barangay Tangke, Talisay City where a police outpost will be built.

Senior Superintendent Noel Gillamac, CPPO director, said he and CPPO officer-in-charge Senior Superintendent Marciano Batiancela Jr., along with officials from Talisay City, will inspect a lot where the SRP outpost is eyed to be put up.

The outpost will be built on the lot owned by former Cebu City councilor Procopio “Coping” Fernandez, who agreed to donate a portion of his lot in Sitio Salvador.

Gillamac said the outpost will be jointly used by Cebu City and Talisay City police officers to provide better security.

“Boundary man na diha. Diha mag-stand by ang SRP police, Mambaling police and Talisay, joint na sila, magtinawagay na sila, wa nay jurisdiction…kay kung mag-iyahay ta, way mahitabo,” Gillamac said.

He added that the outpost will help address security issues foreseen to go along with surge of activities in the SRP, especially once a big mall starts operating this month.

Gillamac said once the mall fully operates, crimes may also occur. But if there are police officers assigned particularly in the area police, response will be faster, he explained.

“The more ang problema diha, labi na sa traffic kinahanglan nga ma-control diha ang flow sa sakyanan kay daghan na ang tawo magpatuyang unya’g dagan, daghang mangamatay unya,” Gillamac added.

Gillamac also said he requested the SRP Traffic Task Force to include as its member the chief of the Provincial Operations and Planning Branch and of the Talisay Police Station chief.

“So that they will have a voice in the deliberation of traffic rules and schemes and of the security preparations at SRP for uniform approach in Cebu City and Talisay City,” he said.

Plans to establish the police outpost came after a robbery incident at the SRP last October where a motorcycle driver was killed and two of his passengers injured. (FREEMAN)
