Killed robber’s brod behind new cases?
CEBU, Philippines - The seventh most wanted person in Talisay City allegedly responsible for a string of robberies had already been killed in a shootout, but it appears that his brother is following in his footsteps, according to the police.
Richard Daan, a resident of Barangay Tanke, was positively identified by a 32-year-old victim as one of the two men who flagged the tricycle she was riding in Sitio Dawis, Barangay San Roque on Wednesday.
Richard is the brother of Richie Daan, identified as one of the most wanted persons in Talisay who was killed in a shootout with the police at the Talisay City Fish Port last month.
The FREEMAN is withholding the name of the victim to protect her identity. According to her, she was riding a tricycle the other day when two men onboard a motorcycle blocked their way and pointed a gun at her while declaring the holdup.
Due to fear, she handed over her bag which contained her cellphone worth P9,000, cash amounting to P300, and some important documents. The suspect, she added, then quickly fled from the area.
At the police station, the victim was shown photos of notorious robbers in the city and was able to identify Richard as one of those who allegedly robbed her.
Senior Police Officer 1 Mikie Espina said Richard has been implicated in local robbery cases and is likely taking the leadership of the group after the death of his brother.
The police are still conducting a follow-up operation to possibly arrest Richard and his companion. (FREEMAN)
