Mandaue OKs salary hike for JOs
CEBU, Philippines – The Mandaue City Council yesterday approved the P35 increase on the salary of job order (JO) workers and the honorarium of Clean and Green personnel and barangay health and nutrition workers (BHNWs).
Ordinance No. 13-2014-947, which grants the increase of P35 to JO workers' P340 daily wage and the additional P50 to the salaries of traffic enforcers, is effective July 1, 2015 "provided that the personnel are still in the service as of October 31, 2015."
Councilor Neneta Layese, who sponsor the said ordinance, said the last increase on the JOs' salary was on April 1, 2014.
"Wage increase is a powerful tool for personnel motivation and performance improvement which results in improving morale, enhancing productivity, increasing competitiveness, decreasing absenteesim and turnover of these workers," read the newly approved ordinance.
In a separate ordinance, also authored by Layese, the council authorized the increase of monthly honorarium from P3,660 to P4,000 for the Clean and Green personnel, and P3,000 from P2,660 for the BHNWs. This retroactively takes effect on July 1, 2015.
"An effective motivating honorarium is a key component of performance in helping the city deliver services to the public," the ordinance read. (FREEMAN)
