Wife of mayor's driver raped?

CEBU, Philippines –  The wife of the driver of Talisay Mayor Johnny De los Reyes was allegedly raped by an unidentified man inside their rented house in  Barangay Poblacion yesterday dawn.

Minerva (real name withheld), 30, a native of Alcantara town, southern Cebu, was sleeping with her two children, ages three and one, when the incident happened. Her husband was then working for a late night shift with De los Reyes.

Police Officer 1 Paula Lumakang of the Women's and Children's Protection Desk of Talisay City Police said while the victim was asleep, the suspect barged inside the house and directly covered the mouth of the victim to prevent her to make a noise.

The suspect tied the victim's mouth, hands and feet with the use of cellphone charger's wire before carrying out his bad intention.

After, the suspect fled leaving the victim tied. The victim strived to stand up and hopped towards their door until neighbors noticed her. She was rescued and brought to Talisay City Police.

Lumakang said  the victim could not clearly identify the suspect, however, the victim's husband has his own suspect.

"Silingan ra gyud ni namo kay kining tawhana mahibung ko kay sige man siya og pangutana sa akong asawa. Nagduda na gyud ko nga ibog siya sa akong asawa," victim's husband said.

"Bisan pa man nga ingon ini ang sitwasyun namo pasalamat nalang ko kay buhi akong asawa ug mga anak," he added.

Usually, the mayor's driver is not able to sleep in their house together with his wife and children when Mayor JVR has an appointment and goes back home late. The mayor would not permit him to go home especially during late hours, he said.

Lumakang said  the victim will undergo medical examination in the pink room of  Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center to determine whether there was penetration into victim's organ.
