Man yields ‘shabu’ in security check
CEBU, Philippines – A 21-year-old motorcycle mechanic was arrested for allegedly carrying suspected shabu while onboard his motorcycle Sunday dawn.
Ian Parado was heading home to Alegria, Cordova when he was about to be stopped by personnel of the Basak-Marigondon Police Station in Barangay Subabasbas, Lapu-Lapu City for a security checkpoint around 2 a.m.
However, when Parado saw police presence near the Suba-panas bridge, he allegedly took a U-turn.
Senior Police Officer 2 Candido Barinque said the responding policemen chased Parado who was onboard his Suzuki motorcycle bearing a temporary plate number 07016.
Parado is a resident of Sitio Soong II, Barangay Mactan. Barinque said at least 21 small sachets of suspected shabu were seized from Parado.
The police said Parado may have come from repacking illegal drugs because a large plastic bag with suspected shabu residue was confiscated from him.
Parado is currently detained in a holding cell of the said police station and is facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
