The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A 47-year-old engineer lost his cash and other valuables to an alleged salisi gang inside a food stall of a mall in Mandaue City yesterday.

Arnel Osorno of Deca Homes, Barangay Tipolo lost his sling bag containing P50,000 cash to unidentified perpetrators. Osorno’s three ATM cards, checkbook, driver’s and Professional Regulation Commission licenses were also taken away.

According to SPO3 Dindo Montesclaros of Subangdaku Police Station, the incident happened at 2:45 p.m. when Osorno went to buy food from a donut stall in Parkmall.

Osorno left his bag on a table while talking on the phone. However, when he looked back at his bag, it was already gone, according to Montesclaros.

Superintendent Mark Anthony Bastes, chief of the Investigation and Detection Management Branch of the Mandaue City Police Office, said the perpetrators were composed of a man and a four-year-old girl, based on the CCTV footage of the food stall.  — Jave A. Matugas (FREEMAN)
