Woman, cousin fall in drug bust
CEBU, Philippines - A woman and her cousin fell into the hands of the police during an anti-drug entrapment operation in Barangay Mantuyong, Mandaue City on Tuesday evening.
Aileen Abanid, 26, single, resident of Sitio Ihawan, Barangay Mantuyong, fell into the hands of police when she handed a pack of illegal drugs to a police decoy in exchange for P200.
Police Officer 2 David Umambac told The FREEMAN that Abanid was already under surveillance after police learned she was a drug pusher in the area.
Tuesday evening's operation was staged following a tip from concerned citizens that Abanid was selling drugs in the place on that day.
Upon the consummation of sale, police then placed Abanid under arrest and seized from her possession a total of six small packs of suspected shabu.
But while police were frisking her, they noticed another man suspiciously feeling uneasy few meters away.
When police sensed that the man was about to flee, a short chase ensued.
Upon frisking, the man yielded a small pack of suspected shabu, Umambac said.
The man was later identified as Ernesto Abanid, 26, cousin of Aileen.
Both were brought to and detained at Centro Police Station pending the filing of appropriate charges against them.
ARMED PERSON
Meanwhile, an armed person was arrested yesterday dawn in A.S. Fortuna Street, Barangay Banilad, Mandaue City.
Maximo Inso, 35, of Barangay Lahug, Cebu City was picked up by operatives of Casuntingan Police Station following a call from a concerned citizen informing them of the presence of an armed person in the area.
Inso was arrested after the police found an unlicensed gun bulging on his left waist.
The gun was later known to be a .22 magnum revolver with no serial number and two live ammos.
Police said they were also able to seize from Inso's possession a small pack of suspected shabu and a disposable lighter.
The suspect is now detained at Casuntingan Police Station pending the filing of charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunitions and possession of illegal drugs against him. — (FREEMAN)
