Man, after playing basketball, shot in the neck

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A 26-year-old man is now in serious condition after being shot on his neck by a still unidentified gunman at around 7 p.m. Thursday.

The victim, Neson Inot, just came from playing basketball and was walking on his way home along New Sangi Road at Barangay Pajo in Lapu-Lapu City, when attacked.

Police Officer 2 Joseph Rouel Cutanda, of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, said the assailant approached and shot Inot without provocation, before fleeing on board a motorcycle that was waiting for him in the area.

Members of the Emergency and Rescue Unit Foundation rushed the victim to the Mactan Doctor's Hospital, while responding policemen of the Gun-ob Police Station 3 conducted an investigation of the incident, its motive and the eventual identification and arrest of the suspect.

An empty shell of a bullet, believed to be from a .45-caliber pistol, was recovered in the crime scene, according to Cutanda. —Christell Fatima M. Tudtud/RAE (FREEMAN)
