Mall crew caught stealing gems
CEBU, Philippines - Three maintenance crew of Gaisano Grand Mall in Barangay Centro were arrested by the mall's security guard after they were allegedly caught in the act of stealing jewelry from one of the establishment's booths.
The suspects were identified as Emilio Andujar, 24, of Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City; Gideon Vergara, 21, of Barangay Labogon, Mandaue City and Rio Villarin of Barangay Labangon, Cebu City.
Police Officer 1 Mar Villamonte of the Centro Police Station said the mall management sought for police assistance after the suspects were seen stealing Unisilver jewelry.
During their arrest, a Unisilver necklace worth P3,220 was taken from the possession of Andujar, another necklace worth P4,250 was taken from Vergara and yet another necklace worth P5,020 was taken from Villarin.
The said items were hidden in their respective pockets.
According to Villamonte, there were already previous cases of loss in some of the booths inside the mall.
"Kini sila mao man gu'y last nga mogawas sa mall kay sila maoy tigpalong sa mga suga, unya duna nama'y mga previous incidents sa kawat busa gipanid-an na. Unya tabunan ra man gud na og net ang booth busa makakuha dayon. Niangkon ra man nuon ni sila nga ila rang gikuhit og alambre ang mga alahas nga ilang gipanguha," Villamone said. — (FREEMAN)
