Drug bust subject shot after resisting
CEBU, Philippines – Police shot a man in the leg after he reportedly tried to stab a police decoy during a drug bust on Sunday midnight in Zone Paliya, Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City.
Operatives of the City Intelligence Bureau allegedly decided to shoot Edgar Parilla in the led after the suspect of the buy-bust reportedly attempted to stab Police Officer 3 Alexis Tangob, who acted as a poseur buyer in the operation.
CIB chief Superintendent Josefino Ligan told The FREEMAN that prior to the arrest of Parilla, his men received information that a certain "Jot-jot" was selling illegal drugs in Zone Camote in Barangay Paknaan.
The operation was immediately carried out against the subject.
Jot-jot was immediately arrested by the police after he handed one small pack of suspected shabu to a police decoy. Another small pack of shabu was also seized from him during frisking.
At the CIB office, Jot-jot's identity was known to be Aldrin Molit, 30 and a resident of Zone Camote. During interrogation, he squealed to the police about the ongoing illegal drug operation of Parilla in the adjacent sitio.
In Zone Paliya on Sunday midnight, PO3 Tangob was supposed to effect the arrest against Parilla after he handed to him a P200 marked money in exchange of a small pack of shabu but as Tangob identified himself as a policeman, Parilla immediately pushed him and took a 22-inch knife from his shoulder.
When he was about to attack the cop, he was shot in the left leg by one of the policemen who surrounded him.
During Parilla's arrest, police were able to seize four small decks of suspected shabu and one .22 caliber revolver placed inside the suspect's waist bag.
The police was also able to confiscate the knife which he was supposed to use in stabbing the cop.
Parilla was immediately brought to confinement and detention to the Mandaue City Hospital while Molit is currently detained at the Subangdaku Police Station.
