Husband 'hangs' self
CEBU, Philippines - A 25-year-old shellcraft worker allegedly hanged himself with the use of a nylon rope Friday morning in the kitchen of his grandmother's house in Barangay Punta Engaño, Lapu-Lapu City.
Police identified the victim as Arnel Pagobo, resident of the same barangay.
Initial investigation revealed that at around 4 a.m. on that day, Pagobo figured in a verbal tussle with his wife Jocel because of his association with gambling.
Jocel reportedly went outside the house around 6 a.m. to sell food, and was said to be calming her nerves after the fight with her husband.
She then went back to the house and spotted her husband in a nearby store around 8 a.m.
That was the last time the victim was seen alive, according to Police Office 1 Jade Querubin of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.
Police Office 1 Querubin said minutes after, Jocel went outside of their house again to visit her sister.
At around 11 a.m., Jocel received a call from her aunt saying her husband was found dead inside his grandmother's kitchen area.
Jocel hurriedly went to the place and managed to rush Pagobo to Mactan Doctors' Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Police Office Querubin said based on their investigation, there was no foul play traced in the place where the victim allegedly committed suicide. (FREEMAN)
