Mandaue to lend water tanker to Ronda
CEBU, Philippines – The Mandaue City government will be sending a water tanker to its sister-town Ronda in southern Cebu as the Seniang-hit municipality badly needs potable water.
Felix Suico, head of the City Risk Reduction and Management Office, yesterday said the city government will be sending the tanker today after a nun who is a friend of city administrator James Abadia informed him of the plight of the residents in the town.
Most of the townspeople are temporarily seeking shelter in the church and most of them need potable because the town's waterworks system was damaged by flashfloods brought about by the tropical storm.
"Sagad sa mga tawo didto sa deep well ug refilling station nagsalig sa ilang tubig mainom apan lapok lang gihapon ang mogawas busa wa sila'y tubig mainom," Suico said.
Suico said the water tanker will stay in town for three days, enough for the residents to fully get rid of their water wells with mud.
He added that the municipal government had entered into an agreement with the local government of Moalboal allowing them to get potable water but the problem is there is no vehicle to use in transporting water to Ronda.
The water tanker which Mandaue will lend to Ronda can be filled with 50,000 to 75,000 liters of water, according to Suico.
Last Friday, the city also gave relief goods to the town consisting of 50 sacks of rice, 50 cartons of assorted canned goods and 50 cartons of noodles.
