Clinic loses P176T in night burglary
CEBU, Philippines – A veterinary clinic in Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City lost a total of P176,000 in cash and gadgets after it was burglarized early Sunday morning.
The Cebu Veterinary Doctors Clinic located in Sitio Kagudoy, owned by Dr. Odysseus Camarillo of Barangay Basak-Pardo, Cebu City, lost P135,370 cash placed in a drawer at the ground floor of the clinic, a laptop worth P40,000 and two mobile phones worth P1,200.
The burglary was discovered by the receptionist.
Police learned from security guard Pedro Singson that when he was roving last Saturday evening, he reportedly noticed somebody inside the clinic as he heard some tinkering noise inside.
However, when he came nearer to the premises for several minutes, he no longer heard the sound and this prompted him to leave the place.
But when he came back again to make another round of roving early in the morning Sunday, he already noticed that the sliding window of the clinic was opened.
It also seemed that the things inside were in disarray, prompting him to immediately inform the caretaker of the clinic.
Jenaly Aranas immediately called up the police after she discovered that everything inside the clinic was not in order.
Police Officer 2 Ronald Salimbot, investigator at Marigondon Police Station, found out that the suspect climbed through the stairs upward to the second floor and entered through the sliding window which was remained unlocked that evening.
From the second floor, the suspect went to the clinic downstairs and destroyed drawers where the money and the gadgets were kept.
Nobody noticed the person or persons responsible for the burglary.
Police are still conducting further investigation to identify the culprit.
Police are also not discounting the possibility of the incident being an inside job as employers allegedly knew that there was cash inside the clinic.
