Mandaue employees to receive P20T bonus

Flor Z. Perolina - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – The Mandaue City Council during its special session yesterday approved an ordinance which grants a P20,000 Performance Enhancement Incentives to all regular employees of the Mandaue City Hall.

Around 700 regular employees will receive the additional benefit aside from their 14th month bonus which they started receiving last week.

City Councilor Diosdado Suico, who sponsored the said ordinance, said P14 million is needed for the giving of P20,000 to each of the regular employees but since the city only has P10 million savings, he also sponsored during yesterday's special session an ordinance re-aligning P5 million budget to complete the P14 million to be allocated for the giving of PEI.

Suico said the city has to realign the P5 million budget which comes from the unfilled positions from the city's plantilla.

He said another special session will be held after the commemoration rites of the death of Dr. Jose Rizal today for the approval of the second and third reading of the said re-alignment ordinance.

Last December 2, the Department of Budget and Management issued a memorandum circular setting the guidelines in the granting of PEI to all regular government workers.

The regular employees will start receiving their PEI's in January next year.
