Talisay to dispose, bid out “unserviceable” properties
CEBU, Philippines – The Talisay City Council has authorized Mayor Johnny De los Reyes to undertake the expeditious disposal of all unserviceable government properties of the city, subject to Commission on Audit (COA) Rules and Regulations.
Resolution No. 2014-47-5, sponsored by City Councilor Edward Alesna, chairman of the council committee on waste and means, said there are properties of the city government that are no longer used.
“The disposal of the unserviceable government properties prevent further deterioration obtain a fair return in case of sale,” Alesna said.
He said that if found to be valuable, these properties may be sold in a public auction.
With the adherence or Commission on Audit (COA) Rules and Regulations on disposal of government properties, it was recommended by the disposal committee that a public auction will be the appropriate mode of disposal and deemed most advantageous to the government.
The city treasurer, as the custodian of the properties of the municipality, shall keep the record of disposed properties.
Audit rules and regulations dictate a disposal committee is to be created by the LGU with the specific task to undertake the disposal of its properties.
Recently, De los Reyes re-organized the local disposal committee whose specific task is to facilitate the disposal of the city’s properties. —/ATO
