CEBU, Philippines – Mandaue City's 10th most wanted person was arrested in Cebu City last Saturday evening. Joint elements of the City Intelligence Branch of Mandaue City Police Office and operatives of Cebu City Police Office arrested Gilbert Rendon Castillo, 28, single, temporarily residing in Sitio Aroma, Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City but a native of Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.

Castillo was arrested in his working place on Duterte Street, Cebu City around 4:15 p.m. Saturday by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Estela Alma Singco of RTC Branch 55. Castillo is facing a murder case with no recommended bail.

Police said the case was filed against Castillo because on August 11, 2013 while he was detailed as security guard of Seaford Shipping located in Sitio Gumamelahan in Barangay Opao, Mandaue City, he allegedly shot to death  Jolito Peroso Jr. whom he accused of stealing scrap irons under a ship.

The victim's body was then seen floating the next morning while the suspect reportedly escaped.

Superintendent Josefino Ligan, chief of CIB, said although the incident took place while the suspect was on duty, it was found out during investigation that the suspect "lied" because before Peroso could begin stealing under the ship, he allegedly shot him already.

This prompted MCPO to include him in the no.10 list of the Ten Most Wanted Persons in the city.

The suspect is now detained at Opao Police Station while waiting to be remanned to the Mandaue City Jail.
