After ‘bringing’ minor to hotel Liloan trader faces sexual abuse raps
CEBU, Philippines – A 49-year-old businessman from Barangay Tayud, Liloan town was charged with a sexual abuse in court yesterday afternoon after he was arrested on Thursday for allegedly bringing a minor to a motel in Barangay Banilad, Mandaue City.
The businessman was arrested by the operatives of the Casuntingan Police Station after the family of the victim had asked the police to rescue their 14-year-old daughter from the hands of the suspect.
Senior Inspector Philip Silva said the parents of the victim, who is a resident of Barangay Talamban, Cebu City, knew that their child was in the hands of the suspect after the victim divulged to her cousin that he was about to meet that day his alleged boyfriend whom she described to be “old.”
Unknown to the victim and the suspect, they were being tailed by the girl’s family after they boarded on the KIA Rio car of the suspect who brought her to a motel in Barangay Banilad.
The suspect was arrested at around 3 p.m. last Thursday afternoon and was brought for detention at the Casuntingan Police Station.
During interrogation, the suspect and victim said it was already the second time that they met and the girl even admitted that she was being “paid P650.”
“Nahibaw-an man sad gud nato ni gikan sa bata nga mura’g duna siya’y problema sa iyang pamilya kay matud pa niya, duna siya’y kahiubos sa iyang ginikanan,” Silva said.
A case of sexual abuse in relation to 7610 was filed against the suspect yesterday afternoon at the City Prosecutor’s Office after a medical examination from the Pink Room of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center showed that the girl was indeed sexually abused by the suspect.
