Woman found dead

CEBU, Philippines – A woman was reportedly found dead inside her kitchen in Vista Bella Subdivision, Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City around 9 a.m. on Sunday.

The woman was identified as Elsa Paglinawan, 53, who lived at Lot 42, Block 74, New Zealand Street inside the subdivision.

Her brother, Joel, 41, found her body with her head pooled with blood, lying face down on the floor.

A carpenter is being eyed a possible suspect since the victim's house was under renovation, according to Police Officer 1 Jade Querubin of Lapu-Lapu City Office during his initial investigation into the incident.

Querubin also said other possible suspects would be the victim's close acquaintances.

He added that they have yet to determine the motive of the crime. The victim's head was reportedly got hit with a hard object.

No weapon was found at the crime scene. There were also no signs of forced entry into the victim's house, according to Querubin. The victim was reportedly unemployed and lived alone in her house.

Joel said he wondered why his sister did not spend the night in his house in Camella Homes Subdivision in Barangay Pajac which prompted him to check on her that morning.

The victim usually sleeps over in Joel's and her sister-in-law's house in Camella Homes every Friday and Saturday.

Querubin said the house was in disarray when the brother entered the house. The body will be subjected to an autopsy.

Meanwhile, a 25-year-old woman was shot dead in Sitio Seaside in Barangay Pajo, around 12 midnight on Sunday.

The victim was identified as Maria Retchelle Abella, a native of Bohol, who lived in the same barangay.
