Lapu-Lapu earmarks P10M for disaster training
CEBU, Philippines - Starting early next year, massive disaster training and preparations during calamities will be implemented in Lapu-Lapu City.
The city government allocated close to P10 million for the purpose to be implemented by the City Disaster Risk and Management Council.
Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza included the budget for disaster preparedness program to the city's Annual Investment Plan.
The creation of Barangay Disaster Action Response Team and the training of its members in 30 barangays will be prioritized.
The budget allocation also included the financial assistance needed by the affected families during disaster and calamities.
The City Social Welfare Office was given task to prepare the relief goods for victims.
This as the city government will also purchase the necessary equipment needed after typhoons, earthquake and other incidents affecting a number of residents.
The Bureau of Fire Protection personnel and the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation Base 2 in Lapu-Lapu City has been tasked to conduct the trainings and seminar.
The eight barangays in Olango Island and neighboring islet barangays of Caubian, Pangan-an and Caohagan have been given priority by the city officials in the conduct of training early next year. (FREEMAN)
