Radaza asked to allow auditor to show up

CEBU, Philippines – The Lapu-Lapu City Council asked Mayor Paz Radaza to allow City Auditor Delia Montederamos to appear at a session to shed light on alleged questionable transactions of the previous administration of Barangay Pajo.

The move of the City Council came after Montederamos failed to attend last Wednesday's regular session for the reason that she had more documents to prepare.

But Councilor Florito Pozon believes that the reason of Montederamos' no-show was because of the order of Mayor Paz Radaza that no department head can attend the regular session of the council without her permission.

To address the issue, Councilor Pozon and members of the council agreed to request Mayor Radaza to allow Montederamos to attend the regular session of the council next week.

The Commssion on Audit released their findings on the 2012 transactions of Barangay Pajo during the administration of former barangay captain Leo Mercado who is now a regular member of the City Council.

COA reportedly discovered the questionable transactions of the previous administration of Mercado.

Mercado failed to turn over the documents of Barangay Pajo to acting barangay captain Garry Omolon.

Omolon said because of Mercado's failure to turn over the documents, he also failed to turn over to incumbent Barangay Captain  Junard "Ahong" Chan.

Chan and the barangay council are now requesting the City Council to help them in looking into the problem.

Several documents were reportedly missing during the administration of Mercado including some amount of cash.
