Flor Z. Perolina - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Over 180 traffic enforcers will be deployed by the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue in different cemeteries in the city during All Saints’ and Souls’ Days on November 1 and 2.

TEAM Director Edwin Ermac said starting 4 p.m. today  up to 12 midnight on November 2, they will be closing the whole stretch of B.B. Cabahug Street to the motorists  in order to give ease to people who will be visiting the four cemeteries in the city which are just adjacent to each other.

He said that during the closure, passenger jeepneys coming from Lapu-Lapu City and those coming from A.C. Cortes Avenue will be affected.

“We can allow vehicles to drop off PWDs (persons with disability) or senior citizens nga lisud na ang kondisyon sa panglawas,” Ermac said. However their cars should leave the drop-off points immediately after.

Ermac added that they will only allow big vehicles to park in one lane along the A. Del Rosario Street near the cemeteries. They will also allow parking of private vehicles along A.S. Fortuna Street, L. Jayme Street and F. Rosal Street.

He, however, assured that  TEAM members will be deployed in the entry points to guide motorists to avoid the traffic congestions.

He also urged those selling flowers and candles to sell at their designated areas. They are only allowed to sell at a designated lane along B.B. Cabahug and the whole stretch of F.B. Cabahug Street at the side of Grosmar cemetery.

“We will not allow nga maninda sila sa dili designated nga areas,” Ermac said.

Vendors should also show a mayor’s permit before they are allowed to sell in these designated areas, he added.  (FREEMAN)
