Assailants on bike shoot man dead in Lapu-Lapu
CEBU, Philippines – A 39-year-old man died after riding-in-tandem suspects shot him several times in front of a local pharmacy in Barangay Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City Monday evening.
Ronnie Pulvera, a resident of Sitio Punta Rizal on the same barangay, died instantly.
Initial investigation made by Police Officer 2 Joseph Cutanda of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office Homicide Section revealed that Pulvera was looking for an internet café, along with his minor nephews, before the incident happened at around 11:40 p.m.
While Pulvera's group was at G.Y. Dela Cerna and S. Osmeña Street fronting Rose Pharmacy, two suspects onboard on a black and red motorcycle with no plate number stopped in front of them.
One of the suspects with a gun then pulled the trigger and shot Pulvera several times.
Pulvera, according to Cutanda, sustained gunshot wounds in the right side of his body and left chest, as well as lacerations on the back of his head.
The suspects fled immediately.
A sidewalk vendor almost got hit by a stray bullet and a deformed slug was recovered inside his cigarette box.
Cutanda said another deformed slug and empty shells from a caliber .45 ammunition was recovered at the crime scene.
Police are conducting further investigation into the incident.
