Coop center sets livelihood trainings
CEBU, Philippines – The Lapu-Lapu City Cooperative and Livelihood Resource Center will hold a weeklong activity that aims to give individuals free livelihood training.
The activity is slated for October 22 to 26 at the Lapu-Lapu City Sports Complex.
Jimmy Glomar, officer-in-charge of LCLRC, said the group is expecting more than 1,500 individuals to participate in the activity which is in line for the Cooperative Month celebration.
The trainings, according to Gloma, will be mostly on culinary work such as making siopao and siomai, binangkal and puto cheese.
Aside from food making, the cooperative also gives trainings such as how to make detergent soap and dishwashing liquid.
Gloma added that the trainers for the livelihood activity will be the Kababayen-an sa Opon nga Nagkahiusa Alang sa Kalamboan headed by Mary Jane Cahilog, president of the group and staff member of LCLRC.
Gloma expects the beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program and senior citizens to attend in their trainings.
The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program is an anti-poverty program of the national government which gives support or stipend for the education and health of children.
LCLRC has partnered with the Lapu-Lapu City Federation of Cooperatives or LCFC.
The LCLRC gives out livelihood trainings annually with the support of the city government.
The group will also organize food and trade fair and free seminar on business planning aside from livelihood skills trainings, which will fall on October 22 and 24, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The LCFC will also hold cooperative trainings on October 25 and 26 for a registration fee of P400.
A fun run will be held at the end of the five-day cooperative affair around 5:30 to 7:30 in the morning.
Gloma said there will be a P200 registration fee for every fun run participant and the proceeds will be used in support for the 45 cooperatives under the LCFC group that has 15, 235 members.
