Manalo assumes as 2nd Air Division Leader
CEBU, Philippines - A new official has assumed the post of outgoing Major General Romeo Poquiz of Second Air Division Command based on a program held yesterday morning at the Base Grandstand of Brigadier General Benito Ebuen Airbase in Lapu-Lapu City.
Incoming Major General Eusaquito Manalo took his oath before Lieutenant General Jeffrey Delgado, commanding general of the Philippine Air Force in the Visayas.
Air force officials and staff marched the field in honor of the two officials who have served the army for several years.
In Manalo's privilege speech, he recalled his contributions during trying times such as the Zamboanga siege, Bohol earthquake and the disastrous super typhoon Yolanda.
"Rest assured I will not fail you in your expectations and I will do my best," said Manalo as he assumed the post as new commander for the Second Air Division yesterday.
The air division team, according to Manalo, will work with guidance and policy directives such as the personnel and their facilities.
"We can further develop and enhance our joint readiness in NAVFORCEN (Naval Forces Central) and other armies," he said.
"The Second Air Division will always be supportive of Centcom's (Central Command) campaign plan and their other missions," he added.
Manolo had become the 570th Composite Tactical Wing Commander, Tactical Helicopter Wing Commander and 1st Air Division Air Commander.
This is the fourth position he has assumed this year.
Poquiz received an honorary military badge pinned in his uniform by the General Delgado.
The retired officer was also honored with Command Plaque, a framed medal and a replica cheque while his wife, Marilyn Poquiz, was given a Plaque of Appreciation.
In his speech, Poquiz said he was grateful to have served the military after the day he graduated from the Philippine Military Academy.
After years of being in the Air Force, Poquiz said he can finally spend more time now with his family.
