Council authorizes partnership with therapy center for PWDs

CEBU, Philippines -  The City Council of Talisay authorized Mayor Johnny De los Reyes to ink a memorandum of agreement with the Children and Adults in a Multitude of Play Therapy Center as a partner in the delivery of services for persons with disability in the city.

Councilors Danilo Caballero and Socrates Fernandez, who are the proponents of the resolution, recognized the CHAMP's therapy center as a favorable and effective partner based on its track record.

CHAMP'S Therapy Center, formerly known as Mandaue Therapy Solutions for the Kids/Adults, is duly-recognized and accredited non-profit community-based educational/rehabilitation institution by the Commission on Higher Education.

According to Caballero and Fernandez, the therapy center offers good services for PWDs, especially for their physical and occupational rehabilitation, speech therapy and the likes.

These services are extended to the city residents for the first time.

"This good intent of the both parties should be formally realized by signing a memorandum of agreement, as may be allowed by existing laws," the council resolution read.

Under the SP Ordinance No. 2007-03, or "An ordinance creating the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office," the city recognizes the necessity to establish an office for all Talisaynons who are differently-abled.  (FREEMAN)
