PDEA-7 recognizes Danao City's efforts vs illegal drugs

CEBU, Philippines -  The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas has lauded Danao City's efforts on intensifying campaign against illegal drugs.

PDEA-7 director Esperidion Javier said Mayor Ramon "Nito" Durano III and the rest of the city officials have shown a good example to other local government units by bolstering their anti-drugs drive.

He said LGUs play a crucial part in curbing the problem of drug addiction and trade in their respective localities.

Esperidion recently recognized Mayor Durano for leading the campaign against illegal drugs in his city as he vowed to support the initiative.

"In grateful appreciation for his efforts in causing their reactivation and reorientation of individual Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council and for continually supporting PDEA-7 program thereby contributing greatly to the accomplishment of the mission and boosting the morale of personnel," read the certificate of appreciation received by Mayor Durano.

Earlier, Mayor Durano declared all-out war against illegal drugs in Danao City, a move that gained ground in the City Council.

The mayor said the fight against drug abuse is one of the biggest challenges that their government is still trying to conquer.

He pointed out that using prohibited drugs not only affects the lives of people using it, but also the lives of others surrounding them.

His greatest concern goes to the young children who in their young age have already been exposed to such activities.

Mayor Durano and PDEA-7 officials agreed to closely coordinate with each other for the success of the campaign. (FREEMAN)
