Consolacion grants aid to brgy execs
CEBU, Philippines- The Municipal Council of Consolacion has passed an ordinance granting medical, dental and financial assistance to all barangay officials in the town in cases of hospitalization and death during their incumbency.
Vice Mayor Aurelio Damole and members of the Municipal Council approved the ordinance in support to the needs of barangay officials' families, specifically during their death while in service.
The ordinance said one of the 12-point agenda of Mayor Teresa Alegado is the delivery of basic social services to the residents in the town.
"The Municipal Government recognizes the continuous commitment of all barangay officials in their respective barangay in laying the ground and foundation of substantially functional local government units for the community development and welfare in all aspects," the ordinance read.
The Municipality of Consolacion, it added, also recognizes their crucial responsibility in implementing programs to be more accessible to their constituents with their hands on delivery of services despite harsh condition in the fields.
The ordinance further said that to reciprocate their sacrifices, the municipality considers the passage of the measure which would be an exceptional motivation and encouragement to the barangay officials.
Barangay officials should comply with all the requirements, including the certification from the doctors to avail of the program. The amount of benefits will depend on the recommendation from the Municipal Social Welfare Office.
The municipal government allocated P1 million from the General Fund for the Municipal Social Welfare Office's implementation of the program.
