Pa shot dead while babysitting his son

CEBU, Philippines - A trisikad driver who was babysitting his own one-year-old son died on the spot after he was shot at close range by two siblings at around 11 a.m. yesterday in Sitio Pasil, Barangay Piliog in Cordova town.

John Mark Hilate, 22, and a resident of the said place, was sitting outside his house while watching over his child who sat on his lap when siblings Nerbet Diama and Macky Diama, both of legal age and residents of the place, took turns in shooting the suspect.

Police Officer 2 Noem Rosillosa of the Cordova Police Station said the victim was playing with his son who was sitting on his lap while they were both inside his trisikad.

The suspects then approached him and, without any provocation, shot the victim several times which caused his instant death. Suspects hurriedly left the place.

Neighbors and witnesses who saw the incident immediately went to the trisikad after they saw the victim's son crying and was bathed with the blood of his father. The baby was then taken to safety by neighbors.

Rosillosa said they are now in the process of conducting further investigation over the crime but initial investigation disclosed that "personal grudge" was the main motive of the crime because the victim's live-in partner and mother of their one-year-old child was a former lover of Macky Diama.

Police are now conducting a hot pursuit operation for the possible arrest of the suspects. – (FREEMAN)
