Solon congratulates Davide on 'Report to the People'
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu sixth district Representative Gabriel Luis "Luigi" Quisumbing yesterday lauded the development agenda of Governor Hilario Davide III that was delivered during the latter's "Report to the People."
"I congratulate Governor Davide on the gains he has made in his first year at the helm of the province and look forward to the sustained momentum we have and will continue to enjoy under the PNoy administration," stated Quisumbing in a statement.
Quisumbing, a second-termer legislator, and Davide are political allies under President Benigno Aquino's political party, the Liberal Party wherein the former is the district chairman while Davide is the provincial chairman.
During his State of the Province Address which he preferred to be called as "Year One: Report to the People," the neophyte governor laid down his development agenda at the start of his term.
These include those on the areas of health, education, youth, gender and social protection; food security and agriculture; economic opportunities in the countryside; environmental protection and enhancement; and disaster preparedness; and creation of a participatory and comprehensive master plan.
Within the infancy of the Davide administration, it has encountered three major disasters or crisis namely, the sea mishap accident at Lauis Ledge in Talisay City involving passenger vessel M/V Saint Thomas Aquinas and cargo vessel M/V Sulpicio Express Siete, the 7.2-magnitude earthquake last October 15 and the super typhoon Yolanda that affected 15 towns and one city in northern Cebu.
"We witnessed how Governor Davide's visionary and hands-on leadership encouraged us to face these challenges and kept Cebu on the path of unrivalled development, for the welfare of all Cebuanos," said Quisumbing, who once served as Cebu Provincial Board Member in 2004-2007.
Davide in his report said that the journey to make a better Cebu is not about him or you but all of us in unity towards the journey for a better future.
