North Cotabato eyes sisterhood ties with Mandaue
CEBU, Philippines - The 17 municipalities and one city of the province of North Cotabato want to establish a sisterhood relationship with the city of Mandaue to foster and promote better ties.
Vice Mayor Rodolfo Gantuangco of Kidapawan City in North Cotabato and president of the league and 17 other vice mayors in the province passed a resolution addressed to Mayor Jonas Cortes and Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede of Mandaue City, copy of which was made available to The FREEMAN.
During the meeting of the Vice Mayor's League of the Philippines -Cotabato Chapter , the members signified their intent to establish a sisterhood ties with Mandaue City to foster and promote better and closer relationship, mutual growth and development toward the attainment of respective goals of both parties.
The resolution cited the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Local Government Code of 1991 which states that "local government unit may, through appropriate ordinances, group themselves, consolidate or coordinate their efforts, services and measures for the purposes community beneficial to them."
Mandaue City, a chartered as a city on June 21, 1969, is a highly urbanized and industrialized city which connects two other major cities in Metro Cebu, Cebu and Lapu-Lapu cities, a modern metropolis with "incredible energy and exdtraordinary entrepreneurs."
Mandaue City Councilor Diosdado Suico said they welcome the interest of the municipal and city officials of the Province of North Cotabato.
Suico said they will discuss the said resolution and he believes they can give a positive response to the request. (FREEMAN)
