Parents lobby for use of fixed school bldgs
CEBU, Philippines - One week after the opening of classes, parents in Mandaue City made representation to the City Engineering Office to fast track the issuance of the Certificate of Occupancy of newly-rehabilitated school buildings.
The delayed issuance of Certificate of Occupancy despite the rehabilitation of the school buildings damaged due to the earthquake last year prompted the teachers to use tents or shifting of students.
Engineer Cielo Jamora, Physical Facilities Coordinator of the Mandaue City Schools Division, confirmed to reporters that parents in Mandaue City through the Federation of Parents Teachers Community Association made their request to facilitate the use of these school buildings.
Jamora said they also made representation to the City Engineering Office to issue the necessary permits, especially the Certificate of Occupancy.
"Daghan sa atong mga ginikanan ang naghangyo sa dinalian nga paghatag sa Certificate of Occupancy sa mga nahuman na pag-ayo nga school buildings sa nagkalain-laing mga barangay sa Mandaue," said Jamora.
Although, most of these school buildings were already rehabilitated, there are requirements from contractors that need to be complied with, Jamora said.
Parents who made their request to the City Engineering Office in Mandaue said the use of these newly-rehabilitated school buildings will solve the inconvenience of the students.
