Brgy seeks city nod on using donated lot

CEBU, Philippines - Cansojong Barangay Council is asking Talisay City Mayor Johnny De los Reyes to utilize the 286 square meters of a donated parcel of land from a private owner in order to operate a day care center for pre-schoolers in their barangay.

City Councilor Valeriano Ylanan, in proposed Resolution No. 2014-22-8, said the request of the barangay needs to be supported as they are aware of increasing numbers of pre-schoolers.

Ylanan said the Barangay Council has come up with a decision to house a new day care center that will support the development of facilities that are child- and family-oriented, environmentally safe and secure, promote healthy growth, aesthetically pleasing, functional and cost effective.

A City Council's approval is necessary before the barangay can use the property, Ylanan said.

The property is previously owned by the Borromeo Brothers Estate Inc.

The donated parcel of land is covered by Sales Patent No. 39986 of the Bureau of Lands and Tax Declaration no. 03359 in the name of the Borromeo Brothers Estate Inc., which they donated it in June 8, 1988 when the city was still a municipality.

Meanwhile, City Councilor Richard Francis Aznar is asking the mayor to extend financial assistance to Barangay San Roque in the amount of P30,000 for the construction of their birthing center.

The amount will be taken from his Legislative Assistance Fund.

In Resolution No. 2014-117, series of 2014, Barangay San Roque was requesting financial assistance for the construction of their Birthing Center for the effective and efficient service of their constituents.
