CEBU, Philippines - After discovering that her American boyfriend was reportedly helping his sick ex-girlfriend, a 23-year-old woman ended her life by drinking "muriatic" acid inside their rented apartment in Sitio Tiago, Barangay San Isidro, Talisay City on Tuesday.

In a spot report signed by Police Superintendent Carmelo Dayon, the incident was said to have happened around 4:30 in the afternoon.

Police Officer 2 Edwin Campomanes of Talisay City Police Station said based on the report, the victim was identified as Nelmie Labrador.

Initial investigation conducted by the police revealed that Labrador got jealous to the ex-girlfriend of  her American live-in partner named Anthony Louis, 61.

According to Campomanes, Louis's ex-girlfriend texted him and asked for financial assistance since she was allegedly suffering from an illness.

Louis then reportedly left their apartment to attend to the ex-girlfriend's request. It was at this point that Labrador texted the ex-girlfriend that she would commit suicide if her live-in partner wouldn't come home on a given time.

In the text message, Labrador allegedly asked the ex-lover to just bury her as she was to take in muriatic acid.

Upon the arrival of Louis, he found his girlfriend lying unconscious on the floor with a pair of scissor and a bottle of muriatic acid beside her.

Police said the girl was given immediate treatment and was rushed to Talisay City District Hospital but was confirmed dead-on-arrival by an attending physician.
