CEBU, Philippines - A man died instantly while his friend was injured after they were both stabbed by their neighbor Thursday evening in Barangay Calawisan, Lapu-Lapu City.

Randy Berame, 42, a resident of Zone Lato, Barangay Calawisan, was declared dead on arrival at Lapu-Lapu City Hospital after he sustained a fatal stab wound on the left arm and left side of his body hitting his vital organs.

Berame's friend Franklin Dico, 52, also sustained a stab wound on his hand when he tried to pacify the suspect Arvey Berdon, 36, also a resident of the said place.

Police investigation revealed that based on the accounts of the victim's father Eugenio Berame, his son went to the store to buy some cigarettes when he saw the suspect. Later a confrontation ensued between them and the suspect suddenly stabbed the victim and Dico who pacified them.

Minutes after the incident, the suspect who earlier fled the crime scene, personally went to Hoopsdome Police Station to surrender himself.

He told police he got irked after the victim kept on insisting and demanding to pay him of the P200 worth of shabu which he owed.

He also told police he thought that Dico also came to attack him and thus he stabbed him once hitting him in his left hands as the latter ran for his safety.

The suspect is currently detained at the holding cell of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office pending the filing of appropriate charges against him this coming Monday. (FREEMAN)
