CEBU, Philippines - A depressed Criminology graduate of a certain Iloilo university jumped to death off the rooftop of Plaza Borromeo Building yesterday morning on Borromeo Street, Cebu City.

The victim was identified as Jerald Ocson, 29, and a resident of Barangay Rizal, Ibarra, Iloilo City and a native of San Dionisio, Iloilo City. He was believed to be a former security guard.

From the spot investigation of the team on duty, the lifeless body of the victim was seen lying on the left side of his body with blood coming out from his broken skull. He gained severe head and knee injuries believed to be the cause of his instantaneous death.

Informant Reynaldo dela Cruz, a maintenance personnel of the same building who was informed by guards Freddie Lañojan and Leonil Cuizon, told police somebody jumped from the rooftop of the building where they were working. This led them to verify and find the victim bloodied.

Dela Cruz then called the Carbon Police Station. Police ordered him to check the rooftop where he found a black bag and a pair of slippers allegedly owned by the victim.

According to Senior Police Officer 1 Ruth Bongo- Violango, the victim went to the rooftop without permission from the guards on duty.

"Wala kahibaw ang mga guard nga naa diay to siya nisaka didto. Wa gani sila kahibalo og asa siya niagi kay wa gyud sila kabantay nga nisulod ang biktima," said Violango.

One of the items found from the victim was a suicide note that said as follows: " From: Kalbo.

Nay, Tay sa mga utod ku. Tag sa mga grupo nga pamilya. Pasensyaha nyo lang ku kung mauna ko sa inyo. Kay manang manong tag sa binet wala naman palakadtuan ang kabuhi ku. Puro palpak gd. Rub pasensya gd nga daku kung indi taka mapangasawa. Wala gd ku swerti sa kabuhi. Palangga ku gid kamu tanan2x, salamat."

Violango added one of the probable causes of the suicide was depression from family and relationship problems.

Other items recovered from the victim was one black bag containing one security guard license, ID card, cash amounting to P2,384, a pair of basketball shoes, one Converse All-Star sneakers, one CD-R King T23 cellular phone, Agua Fresco cologne, Avon Musk for men, disposable lighter and a school ID.

Police already called the family of the victim and informed them of what happened.

They will also continue to investigate on the case to identify if there was a foul play into the suicide.

The cadaver of the victim was brought to St. Francis Funeral Parlor for post mortem examination.
