Cordova intensifies program on tourism
CEBU, Philippines - The municipality of Cordova is now preparing for what officials described as an "influx of tourists and visitors" following their announcement to launch a massive promotion on the town's tourist destinations.
Cordova Vice Mayor Ma. Therese Sitoy-Cho said they are working towards a common goal of making Cordova another tourist destination in Cebu.
According to Sitoy-Cho, the completion of the town's tourism center is the first step in their series of programs aimed at promoting tourism.
She admitted the town can achieve this goal once all necessary infrastructures are in place.
Sitoy-Cho said they are closely coordinating with different national government agencies, like the Department of Tourism, among others, in their bid to convert Cordova into a viable place to visit.
The vice mayor said the town's marine resources are one of its greatest assets in the tourism industry.
She also acknowledged the Korean community which, according to her, has also helped in the town's tourism development.
The marine sanctuary in Gilutungan Island is being operated by a Korean group that is actively engaged in an agreement with the municipality of Cordova.
