Motorbike hits senior citizen

CEBU, Philippines - An 80-year-old woman died after being hit by a motorcycle around Sunday noon in Barangay Central Poblacion, City of Naga.

The victim was identified as Hermohina Alestre, a resident of  Barangay Pangdan, while the suspect was identified as Dominador Geminez, 38, a resident of Barangay Tan-an.

Police report said the motorcycle which was driven by the suspect was heading the public market when Alestre suddenly crossed the road.

The driver tried to apply brakes but proved to be late, hitting the victim.

Alestre was immediately rushed to Minglanilla District Hospital but died few hours later.

The driver is now detained at Naga City Police Station pending the filing of appropriate charges against him.
