Man steals P700T in cash worth and guns from- ex-lover
CEBU, Philippines - A 28-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly stole almost a million worth of cash and jewelry from her former live-in partner who is a lady guard at a mall in Lapu-Lapu City.
Rodel Apduhan, a resident of Barangay Pajac, Lapu-Lapu City, is currently detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office following his arrest Wednesday evening.
His arrest came after his former live-in partner, identified as Devina Briones, reported to Mactan Police Station she lost her P20,000 cash and assorted jewelry worth P700,000 inside her house.
Briones only discovered about the lost items when she arrived home from work at around 4 p.m. last Wednesday.
Police also learned that the victim has cash and owns such expensive jewelry as she continues to receive monthly financial support from her former foreigner boyfriend, who is the father of their child.
PC/Insp. Conrado Manatad of Mactan Police Station, together with his team, conducted a follow-up operation and talked with the victim's brother named Jerome Briones, 18, who takes care of the house while the victim is away for work.
Jerome admitted he let Apduhan in after the latter promised to give him some money. Apduhan, the victim's former live-in partner, said he had belongings to get in the house. Few minutes later Apduhan left.
When Briones arrived home, she discovered that she lost her cash and jewelry. When she asked her brother about the lost items, he replied he never knew anything about it.
Consequently, police spotted Apduhan in the place and cornered him. He was caught with .45 caliber pistol with 9 live ammunitions, a pack of shabu worth P8,000, pawnshop receipts and another P8,000 cash.
Police are still in the process of recovering the remaining pawned jewelry.
Apduhan also revealed that he also bought the .45 caliber pistol from the money he took from the victim as he also wanted to kill her former girlfriend's new boyfriend, saying he was the cause of their break-up. (FREEMAN)
