Korean who 'raped' helper arrested
CEBU, Philippines - A Korean national is now languishing in jail after he was served with a warrant of arrest for a three counts of rape and an acts of lasciviousness case filed against him by his former househelp whom he also impregnated.
Young Yul Lee, who also used aliases Dewongs Lee and Patrick Lee, 41, married and temporarily residing at I-Park Hotel in Barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City was arrested inside his restaurant in Barangay Pusok Friday afternoon.
Lee was arrested after a team led by Investigation and Detective Management Branch (IDMB) Chief PSR/Insp. Jimmy Fortes served the warrant of arrest signed by RTC Branch 28 Judge Mercedita Dadole-Ignacio for the three counts of rape against suspect.
A separate warrant of arrest for his acts of lasciviousness was signed by Judge Carlos Fernando of the MTCC Branch 2 in Mandaue City.
The suspect's arrest came after his 21-year-old former househelp, who is a resident of Barangay Banilad, Mandaue City, sought the help of the IDMB to effect the arrest warrant against the suspect.
It was learned that the victim allegedly got pregnant and gave birth to a baby boy after she was allegedly molested and raped three times by the suspect.
The suspect allegedly denied that he was Dewongs Lee, the name which appeared in his two arrests warrant, and attempted to identify himself to the police as Patrick Lee instead.
However, the victim was able to positively identify him as the one who raped and molested her. Police then arrested the suspect who was brought to the City Prosecutor's Office in Mandaue City where his arrest warrants were also amended to "Patrick Lee."
When the police asked for his passport and E-card, however, it was found out that his name was Young Yul Lee through the said documents.
The suspect was supposed to be committed at the Mandaue City Jail last Friday afternoon but since the police failed to secure him a medical certificate, a requirement for his commitment order at the city jail, the suspect is now temporarily detained at the Subangdaku Police Station. (FREEMAN)
