Man shot under Mananga bridge
CEBU, Philippines - A man who is unable to hear and speak was shot and wounded yesterday dawn in sitio Mananga, barangay Tabunok, Talisay City.
Boy Mier alias “Amang,†46, of barangay Lawaan II, Talisay City sustained a gunshot wound on the abdomen and was later taken to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City.
His assailant has remained unknown until now.
Police said Mier was walking under the Mananga bridge on his way home when someone shot him.
Inspector Rogene Fudotan told The Freeman that the police are having a difficult time extracting information from the man because he could neither hear nor speak, and could be illiterate.
His live-in partner also suffers from the same problem, Fudotan said.
For now, the police are looking for the man’s relatives who could shed light on the shooting and perhaps answer the question why Mier was out of the house at such an unholy hour. — (FREEMAN)
