CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City government will operate with P1.89 billion budget for this year, which is nine percent higher than last year’s P1.73 billion budget.
The bulk of this year’s budget, P1.63 billion, will go to general services, P 87.02 will be allotted to the public market, P50.56 million to the city hospital, P19.24 to the slaughterhouse and P10.55 million to the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Center.
City administrator James Abadia said the city will meet the 2014 budget through intensified tax mapping efforts after city legal officer Regal Oliva raised the collection of business taxes and registration fees by 26 percent last year.
The city has also increased the fines for establishments who failed to comply with regulatory fees such as sanitation and building permits from P500 to P5,000. – (FREEMAN)
