Lapu-Lapu SP happy for family’s effort to construct museum

CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City council has acknowledged the contribution of the family of  the late General Eleno Amores to help the city government protect and preserve old records, pictures, and artifacts.

Vice Mayor Marcial Ycong said the first museum in the city was made possible through the help of the Amores family.

The city government had planned to put up a museum but the plan never came to fruition because of the lack of funds.

The first museum in Lapu-Lapu City was opened to the public last November 14, which coincided with the 81st birthday of the late Police General Eleno V. Amores.

The family of the late General Amores, led by the general’s wife, Donatilla “Naty” H. Amores, worked for the realization of the project.

Mrs. Amores, one of the commissioners of the Lapu-Lapu City Tourism Commission, cited the need for a museum.

Damian Gomez Jr., former city councilor and chairman of the City Tourism Commission, said the museum is located beside the city fire department in barangay Gun-ob.

Gomez said the Amores family paid for the construction of the building.  (FREEMAN)
