Muelle Osmeña Plaza could use a facelift

Jose P. Sollano - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City Government needs money to rehabilitate the Muelle Osmeña Plaza in barangay Poblacion and has asked the Department of Tourism-Central Office for assistance.

A city council resolution asks Department of Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez, Jr. to include P10 million in the 2015 national budget for its facelift.

The plaza is a favorite place among tourists and at present there is waterside platform along the edge which is utilized by ferries that carry passengers to and from Pier 3 in Cebu City.

Lapu-Lapu City officials believe its immediate rehabilitation will help the city government promote Lapu-Lapu as a tourist destination.
