Mandaue’s indigent kids treated to Christmas bash

Flor Z. Perolina - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Indigent children in Mandaue City, numbering 650, were treated to a Christmas party organized by the Kaabag Foundation and the Mandaue City Council for the Protection of Children, chaired by Mayor Jonas Cortes’ wife, Sarah.

Indigent children from the 27 barangays in the city apparently expect to be treated to a party at around this time of the year.

The money spent for the party was taken from the proceeds made by the Horror booth.

This year “Horror Booth sa Mandaue” was cancelled because of the continuous aftershocks from the magnitude 7.2 earthquake, but the children were not to be denied of the party.

The mayor’s wife said companies picked up the tab.

Also at the party yesterday were Muslim children from barangay Mantuyong.

All the children received loot bags that contained rice, ham, grocery items, slippers, and school supplies. — (FREEMAN)
