Mandaue students receive donated books from US

CEBU, Philippines - Children International Philippines donated 25,000 volumes of textbooks and reference books to Mandaue City for the benefit of public school teachers and students. 

Rebecca Fuellos, Children International Chief of Programs turned over the donation to Mayor Jonas Cortes last Friday at Mandaue Cultural and Sports Complex which was followed by a signing of Memorandum of Agreement at the mayor’s office.

The donation worth US$12,000 consists of used books and brand new ones intended for pupils in Kinder 1 up to college.

“These books can really help improve the quality of education in public schools,” said Cortes as he thanked Children International Philippines for its first donation to the city.

City Librarian Angelina Cagatulia said 48 public schools have been identified as recipients and has scheduled a formal turnover to principals Wednesday, at 10 a.m. at the mayor’s office. — MNS (FREEMAN)
