Consolacion eyes lots for squatters

CEBU, Philippines - In compliance with President Aquino's orders, Consolacion town will purchase lots and convert these into relocation sites for residents living in danger zones.

Mayor Teresita Alegado said there are four coastal barangays in the town which have been identified as danger prone areas and these are barangays Tayud, Tugbungan, Nangka, and Jugan.

She said she will need the help of the National Housing Authority to generate funds.

The town has 21 barangays with a population of 110,000 and receiving an Internal Revenue Allotment of P144 million  and a local collection of P50 million. — (FREEMAN)
