CEBU, Philippines - Lapu-Lapu, Cordova students to hold ukulele concert for typhoon victims.

To solicit donations for typhoon victims in Northern Cebu, elementary and high school students in Lapu-Lapu City and the neighboring town of Cordova will hold a benefit concert called “Jam and Strum” on November 23, at p.m. at the Marigondon Parish Auditorium.

The concert will be participated by Ukulele Underground Cebu, Marigondon Elementary Musician Development Program, Camlinas Ukulele Group, STEC Elementary School Ukulele Group, Babag Elementary Ukulele Group, Sta. Rosa Ukulele Group, and others.

City School Division Superintendent Eduardo Ompad supports the concert.

A statement from its organizers said “a single stand of our ukulele makes a difference in the lives of our brothers who are suffering from pain and distress from the typhoon Yolanda.”

They urge groups to join and play in the event. They also urge those who would watch the concert to bring with them one or two bottles of mineral water and food for typhoon victims.

“We are encouraging these little children to showcase their talents at the same time to inculcate in the minds and hearts of people the value of giving and sharing of what they have for they are the future of the next generation,” the statement said.  (FREEMAN)
