Naga’s revenue collection officer tops BLGF exams
CEBU, Philippines - Local revenue collection officer III Villa Tura of the Naga City Treasurer's Office topped the pre- and post exams of the Electronic Statement of Receipts and Expenditures (eSRE) of the Bureau of Local Government-Finance (BLGF), besting other participants representing provinces and cities in Region 7.
Tura, who is a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Electronic and Communication Engineering graduate, almost perfected the two examinations, committing only two errors in the pre-test and one in the post-exam.
The examination was intended to test the knowledge of participants on financial management, appropriations and disbursement of funds, collection and submission of receipts through the eSRE web system.
The two exams were part of the cluster training workshop on the deployment and use of the enhanced eSRE version 2.1 system for provinces and cities.
The adoption of the eSRE web system is for the local treasurer's offices nationwide to apply the modern electronic technology in all their financial transactions and reporting.
Under BLGF's memorandum circular No. 22-2013, it directs all local treasurers to fully disclose specific financial transactions to keep the public well-informed of how the local budget is disbursed and used.
To recall, the BLGF named the City of Naga as the most efficient LGU in collecting real property taxes for 2012 and 2013, besting Cebu City and the rest of the major cities in Central Visayas. (FREEMAN)
