CEBU, Philippines -  Fire destroyed Thursday afternoon a MAPEH (Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health) classroom of the Balirong National High School in barangay Balirong, Naga City.

Fire investigator of the Naga City Fire Station SFO1 Ruseller Generalao said an unplugged appliance could have started the fire.

While waiting for firefighters to arrive, residents living near the school tried to extinguish the fire but failed.

“Di na kuno nila matabang tungod sa kadako sa kayo unya made of light materials ra ang room,” Generalao said in a phone interview.

Lost in the fire were books, a DVD set, papers, electric fans, and plastic chairs.

“Kung mukalit ug brownout unya kumpiyansa ra dili ibton posible maka-cause ug kayo kay inig balik sa kuryente kusog ang current possible mu-spark,” he said.

Estimated damage to property was put at P300,000.  (FREEMAN)
